Matthew Thorpe
Lecturer in Applied Mathematics
Dr Matthew Thorpe is currently a lecturer in applied mathematics (equivalent to assistant professor) at the University of Manchester, a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute and a member of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS). He works on the application of methods from applied analysis, including PDE's, calculus of variations and optimal transport, to problems relevant to machine learning and data science.
He is also a co-organiser for the One World Seminar Series on the Mathematics of Machine Learning.
