Yvonne Henskens
Professor
Prof. Yvonne Henskens graduated with specialisations in Biochemistry and Toxicology at Wageningen University. She worked on salivary cystatins in periodontal health and disease at the Department of Oral Biochemistry, Free University Amsterdam/Academic Centre for Dentistry (ACTA). After her PhD, she started her specialisation in Clinical Chemistry at the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft.
At this moment she is a clinical biochemist, working in laboratories for the past 15 years (Amsterdam Medical Centre and Maastricht UMC+). She has been responsible for the diagnostic tests concerning haematology, hemostasis and transfusion at Maastricht UMC+ since 2003. She has a special research interest in laboratory predictors of bleeding and in pre- and peri-operative management of coagulopathies: Active on the boards of the Dutch societies for haematological laboratories and clinical chemistry. Involved in training and education of medical and life sciences students, laboratory technicians and residents. Founder of a re-training programme on hemostasis and transfusion for technicians and clinical biochemists for the southeast part of the Netherlands.
